Meet the founders, Ildi, Lucy and David

The idea came to us a few years ago, after the COVID pandemic, when we felt inspired to bring something new to tourism. With our background in hospitality and international customer service, we saw how people were becoming more impatient and disconnected. Social media pressure and constant negative news only deepened the divide, making the world feel less open and connected.

As travelers, we’ve always valued discovering local culture, traditions, and cuisine—and connecting with people as genuinely as the tourist-host dynamic allows. That’s why we created a platform for like-minded individuals to share authentic experiences, without money getting in the way.

Our members don’t host for financial gain; the goal is human connection—between guest and host, cultures and people, through everyday life. What better way to understand someone than by sharing time and space in their home?

At Tvelco, we are fully aware that by promoting travel and global connections through our platform, we also contribute — even if only slightly — to the increase of CO₂ emissions on our planet. In the 21st century, we believe that no responsible company should turn away from this fact or avoid taking action.

We’ve found the perfect partner in PLANT-MY-TREE® to help us achieve our environmental goals. Together, we strive to offset the CO₂ generated by travel through ongoing tree-planting projects and long-term reforestation efforts.

We chose PLANT-MY-TREE® not only because they share our European roots, but also because their approach guarantees quality, transparency, and accountability. Each tree they plant is registered with GPS coordinates, allowing us — and anyone interested — to track the exact location of the supported reforestation projects. Moreover, partners can even take part personally in planting events, strengthening the connection between our actions and their environmental impact.
